1. Operator / Responsible Entity

This platform is operated as part of the “Roots of Change” sustainability initiative at Johannes Kepler University Linz.

2. Purpose of the Platform

The platform allows participants to complete sustainability challenges, verify their actions, collect points, and redeem these points for a flower pot produced from recycled plastic at the JKU LIT Factory.

3. Registration and Login

Access to the platform is provided exclusively via the JKU Single Sign-On (SSO). All data and usernames displayed on the platform are anonymized. The identity behind each account is technically known to the moderation team through the SSO but is not visible to other participants.

4. Points and Rewards

Points are collected by completing the offered sustainability challenges. Collected points can be redeemed for a flower pot produced at the JKU.

There is no legal entitlement to receive a flower pot. Flower pots are distributed subject to availability. While we aim to provide a sufficient number of flower pots for all participants, the operator gives no guarantee of availability and reserves the right to discontinue or modify the reward at any time. Points have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be transferred to other users.

5. User-Generated Content

Texts and images uploaded to the platform must not be offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, violent, sexually explicit, unlawful, or otherwise inappropriate, and must not infringe the rights of third parties.

The platform and all uploads are moderated. In the event of a violation, the user account will be blocked. As access is granted via JKU SSO, the actual users behind individual posts are known to the moderation team.

By uploading content, users confirm that they hold the necessary rights to that content and grant the operator the right to display it within the platform for the purpose of the initiative.

6. Liability

The operator provides the platform with reasonable care but assumes no liability for uninterrupted availability or for the accuracy and completeness of user-generated content. Links to external websites are provided for convenience; the operator is not responsible for their content.
